On a lot of my sites, I have trouble finding good content for my main/homepage. I usually say welcome and stuff, but I need more.

What do you do? Is there anything else I should place there?

Well, I just try and say on the main page what the site is about and what the site has to offer, like SiMPL, I put a welcome on the site saying some stuff and also I put some promos on the main and most of the pages.

It's quite simple really. Especially if you use a good CMS. Have a look at the site I have on my profile. It's a small gaming clan site but it's got a simple but comprehensive layout.

Can I ask what CMS you use for that site. I checked it out and it looks like a fairly great CMS.

(BTW: there is no copyright at the bottom)

I use e107. Has to be the most powerful and easy to use CMS that I use. Yeah, I know there's no copyright. There's a problem with the template I'm using conflicting with the footer. I just having got around to fixing it yet. lol

- Also, with e107, once you get the template setup how you want you can easily change the positioning or add/remove blocks in seconds. I mean, you could literally redo your entire site in less than a minute.

Sure thing, just let me know if you need help with it. I can make tuts for whatever you might need for it even though I doubt once you have it installed and have a quick look around you'll need much help.

Why put a video demo up instead of just putting actual content on the main page?

I meant it goes along with the other content and takes up some room.

Well, we have been doing Websites in IT at school. And we were discussing what you put on the home page.

The results of our discussion what on the front page you have a small description about the website and any other relevant information.

Hopefully that assists you in someway.

Why just have a description of the website instead of actual content? That just doesn't seem very professional to me.

Add things like FAQ, Welcome, Register, News and Updates etc, you don't need much, just make it look good and interesting Smile
