I don't like Sophos, my school uses it, and i hate it. I couldn't install iTunes! It was so stupid, so i removed it from the computer - I am sure IT won't be pleased when they see that!

:L - Its the Best AV I've ever had, and I have used most AVs - It just has to be set up properly.

Well, it was probably set up wrong! The IT guys at my school are idiots!

Anyway, other AV software i have used is AVG (it was alright) and avast, avast has been the best so far! Smile

I had this once but could never completely uninstall it Angry ,

Yeah, Norton bogs down the computer... something like avast and AVG don't take up resources....

i use bitdefender 2010 and ya computer IT's at my school were dumb enough to give the admin password to every computer in our school board to a coop student who in turn told me and over 30 other people

Your computer security? - Terminalvoid - 03-14-2010 10:05 PM

Well, I tend to try as many free trial versions (or the odd cheeky "test" TORRENT) of anti-virus before I buy one.

At the moment I find Eset Nod.32 Internet Security Suite to be the single most powerfull, yet CPU / RAM friendly product I have ever used. I used to love AVG but it kept failing to remove the odd virus, even tho it found them no probs and I ended up moving to Kaspersky...big mistake!
Kaspersky repeatedly froze out my internet and bugged me for permissions requests...I know i can set this up to take the decission its self but it often made the wrong choice.

As for any of the "big" names like Norton, McAfee, etc...they tend to have so much junk running in the background they just bog down most computers, not to mention the fact routing connections and port opening / forwarding is almost impossible in the spiders web of complications these "big" companies make.

NoD.32 from Eset is available on a 30 day free trial, which isnt a reduced features trial, its a full product...well worth the try, all my games work and that is usually not the case...even "game mode" firewalls can block certain game features.

Cool
